Great Game

I am so proud of our team tonight! What a great game. We played well defensively and hit the ball really well. Great play awards were handed out to Kevin VanValkenburg and Nicholas Mason. Hustle awards were given to Blake House and Zachary Mann, and the game ball tonight went to Chase Sams. Stats for our games have been updated as of tonights game, so check it out. We will take the weekend off for some rest and relaxation. Enjoy Derby weekend. We may try to practice Monday evening if I can find a decent place to hold it. Will let you know this weekend.

Rockies Win!!

Great night for baseball on Monday! It was clear and cool. We really missed having Chase G. and Lucas in the infield, but was so proud of the way everyone played rotating into some new positions. It was a close game, and thanks to some great batting in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings we were able to pull out a 6-5 win against the Cardinals. Seth Long had a couple great plays in the outfield and batted quite well, earning himself a great play award. Chase Sams received another Hustle award for coming out after not feeling well and giving us some great at bats!! Game ball went to Evan Benge who did a great job on first base making two outs and a good night at the plate as well. Special thanks to all the parents who have helped out these last few games. I know it was a long stretch and we were tired, but it is so nice to have so many willing to help.....Another special thanks to Angela Sams, Amber Rainwater, and Monica House for getting some great pictures of our games and the kids. If anyone has any good ones they would like to have on the website, feel free to email them to me and I will get them up when I can.

Tough loss

We played one of our best games of the season, with spectacular defense and hitting. Everone got in on the action, with a special congratulations and the game ball going out to Brendan for his first career hit! 2 double plays, and one bad call away from a win, but all things considered, a lot of fun! Two more games to play before the off day on tuesday, so see you at 3:30 today!

What a Game!

We lost a heartbreaker to a very good Blue Jays team, 8-3. Our boys played stellar defense, and with a few less mistakes on the basepaths (by the coaches) we would have been right in it. Great play awards go to Blake, for his awesome defense on the mound, Brendan for doing a fantastic job of getting the ball back in from the outfield, Ethan made some great plays in the outfield, Seth won a hustle award, and Chase Grigsby got the game ball for his spectacular effort at first base. Both Kevin and Tyler hit their 2nd triple of the season, and we all played with lots of heart and enthusiasm. Looking forward to playing this weekend!

Rained out on Sunday

Just a short note to apologize for my absence yesterday, and to confirm the rain out for today. I know some of you might be frustrated with the actions of other coaching staffs(running up the score, stacking the defense) but all I can tell you is Angie and I do not coach that way. We want the kids to learn, and have fun. Other coaches have different agendas. See you on Wednesday @ 6:15!

Batting Practice Tomorrow

We just scheduled the Batting cage at the Bullpen (next to the movie theater) for Wednesday at 7:30-8:30. Please bring two dollars to help pay for the rental, and sorry for the late notice!

Tuesday Rain out

What a great way to open our season! We beat the Cubs 11-2, and the boys played very well. Great hitting and even better defense made this the end to a two year losing streak for this Rockies club. Lucas Gifford was awarded a "Great Play" award for his fabulous play from behind the plate to end the game, and Tyler Rainwater recieved a "Great Hustle" award for his first career triple! Kevin VanValkenburg recieved that game ball for his overall great fielding and hot bat!! Coach Angie and I are very proud of these boys!!!

Rockies Scrimmage

We have been asked to scrimmage the Cardinals this Monday, April 6. We will scrimmage during their practice time which is from 7 - 8:30. This will take place at the training league field.
